Climate Change

What is Climate change? Climate change is the changing of the environments of our earth as we know it. Like how recently there have been massive fires in Australia and then torrential rain and floods and more fires.

I will start off by explaining some key facts about climate change. One thing that people forget is that climate change is not all man-made and some of it is natural and would have happened without humans ever being here. But I am not saying that all of the climate change is natural but quite the opposite. The majority of it is man-made from things like greenhouse gases. The global temperature rose by 1.62degrees celsius ever since the beginning of the industrial age. The majority of this happened around 1970 and onwards. This is not the same everywhere as it is warming up about three times as fast around the poles.

There is a satellite ship up in space that NASA has sent up called the Aqua. This satellite observes The rising temperatures of the Earth including water temperature cycling of water, evaporation, ice levels, water levels, and more. Aqua was launched on 4, May 2002. This particular satellite has six different instruments that observe the things listed above. Aqua was first thought to last about six years but has definitely exceeded that timeline. Currently, four of its six instruments are still functioning at a high quality. The fifth instrument still operates but produces reduced quality. The last instrument lasted about 9 months of high-quality data then failed in February 2003.

Most of us have heard about the shrinking ice sheets. The two most affected areas are Greenland and Antarctica. NASA has launched a program to record the amount of ice lost. They did this between 1993 and 2016. Its findings are that Greenland lost an average of 286 billion tons of ice per year. Antarctica, on the other hand, lost about 127 billion tons of ice. The rate of Antarctica ice mass loss has recently tripled over the last decade or so. But there are also other effects such as the ocean’s top 700 metres temperature rising around 0.4 degrees Fahrenheit. But there are more like glaciers retreating, decreased snow cover, sea-level rise, the decline in the amount of Arctic sea ice, extreme weather events, Many animal habitats getting destroyed or wiping out entire species, and ocean acidification.

To finish off I would like to say what I think about Climate Change. I think that Climate Change is something that should be addressed seriously and people should really take care of what they do with their waste for example and together we could fix this big mess. Climate change also has a positive side in my opinion. This can be bringing people together and teaching them how to dispose of their waste responsibly and care for the environment in which we live and is so important to our survival.

I read a story about Coronavirus from stuff and below is the link.

My definition of an Opinion Piece/Editorial:
It is a person's opinion on a topic like in this case, the topic is the Coronavirus.

I learn best when I am allowed to talk to my friends like the ones below and still am able to do work too

I have difficulty learning when everyone is constantly yelling and stuff that is quite annoying

algebraaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

This week I learnt about exponents so like to the power of 2

I had a bit of trouble because it is kind of confusing sometimes. I don't really like algebraaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa.

My example for exponents is txt squared= t to the power of 3 Thats all for today.

algebra division

This week I have been learning how to divide algebraic fractions. I found it quite tricky because I kept forgetting what to do and what order to do it in. But I finally ended up remembering. The order of the instructions to do this is:

  •  Numbers
  •  Work out the factors of each number.
  • Work out the highest common factor. (H.C.F.)
  •  Divide the numbers by the highest common factor.
  •  Letters
  •  Add the Letters to the answer.

Algebraic expressions

This week we have been learning about multiplying and dividing algebraic expressions.😀😎😃

our group did not follow the group norms at all because everyone just talked and did no work what so ever.

Group Norms

1. The group norms are Listen to each other, participate in your group and be patient. 2. Most of us followed the group norms today except for one person who just sat at the other end of the table. 3. People could actually participate not pretend they are in their own group. 4. being able to learn maths.
